Milk paint's look is distinctive. It is water based and thinner than oil or latex paint. It does not fill the wood's natural hair line cracks nor does it produce the boring, perfectly uniform color of modern paints but rather has subtle differences of shading. It's finish lends a very authentic look to our products such as our Shaker peg racks or Boot Benches.

All products painted with Milk Paint also come with a choice of distressed or not distressed. Even when an item is not distressed, the milk paints distinctive look still produces an aged look. When we distress an item we do not bang it up to produce dents but rather gently sand through areas that would have naturally worn more through the years to produce a slightly worn look.

Most of our Milk Painted products [especially those that are apt to receive wear] and all of our stained products are then finished with a minimum of two coats of Minwax® Wipe-On Poly, a high-quality, durable clear finish that combines polyurethane protection with classic, hand-rubbed beauty.

Oil Finish:

Our solid cherry products are given a hand rubbed finish using the original WATCO Danish Oil. WATCO Danish Oil is a penetrating oil that soaks into the wood and "Protects from within" while producing a warm, natural hand-rubbed appearance.
